Family Shelter
The Plymouth Area Coalition for the Homeless provides emergency assistance housing for families at the Pilgrim’s Hope Shelter and  the Baymont Inn. Clients are placed at the shelter by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Living Conditions (EOHLC). Coalition shelters provides clients with safe temporary housing for their families, professional case management, and support services.

Our goal is to empower and strengthen families by offering weekly adult enrichment classes, case management, support services for parents and children, in a warm, nurturing, and compassionate environment.

In the Spring of 2024 the Plymouth Area Coalition will open an additional Emergency Assistance Shelter in Plymouth, increasing their ability to provide temporary shelter and basic needs to homeless families.

Case Management
The staff of the Plymouth Area Coalition for the Homeless are committed to moving our families from shelter to safe and affordable housing. Our professional case managers, supported by a dedicated residential staff work daily to ensure that every client’s shelter experience is positive and empowering. Clients meet weekly with their case manager to set personal goals, formulate a re-housing plan, and job search opportunities.

Re-housing
Working in partnership with their case manager, clients develop a re-housing plan that will meet their family’s needs. Our primary objective when a family arrives in shelter is to identify safe, affordable housing, and assist the family in transitioning to a permanent home.

Housing Stabilization
Coalition case management continues for one-year following a family’s ability to successfully find permanent housing.  During this time, the Coalition will provide support and guidance to clients to ensure their family’s transition is going well, and they are self-sufficient.

In most cases, families placed in an emergency assistance shelter, are eligible to receive Home BASE funds to assist in their home stabilization.  These funds may often help with first and last month’s rent, and security deposits. Home BASE is designed to strengthen a family’s ability to meet the economic demands of permanent housing. For families in danger of becoming homeless, Home BASE funds may often help avoid the need for emergency assistance sheltering.

Education
The Empower(me)nt Program goal is to empower the adult residents of our shelters by providing a diverse curriculum of educational, enrichment, workforce development, and wellness opportunities.  These are areas that we have identified as crucial to helping our clients, by developing the skills and confidence, to lead self-sufficient lives.

We believe by expanding their skill set, personal health practices, and emotional health, they will experience increased self-confidence through achievement. The Empower(me)nt Program is designed to deliver life-changing services and to promote personal and family stability, dignity, and self-sufficiency.

Children Services
The academic, physical, and emotional health of our youngest residents is a priority for the Coalition. The Children Services Coordinator oversees the shelter experience of all children in Pilgrim’s Hope Shelter.

In addition to ensuring that children are enrolled in the appropriate school, and receiving any additional services they may need, the Children’s Service Coordinator plans and coordinates a variety of children’s activities. Among them; organized playgroups, after school activities, vacation week field trips, and craft parties.

Laila’s and Henrik’s Teddy Bear Program is also overseen by the Children’s Services Coordinator.   Click here to learn more about the Teddy Bear Program.
